SIP Trunking is ideal for businesses that already have a phone system (PBX) in place. Even if the PBX doesn’t support SIP, or if the licenses are too costly to do so.
Some PBXs that support SIP directly can seamless integrate System Lifeline’s SIP Trunks for origination and termination of calls.
Those PBXs that don’t support SIP can leverage an intermediary device, called an IAD or ATA.
An IAD (integrated access device) will terminate the SIP Trunk and provide PRI outputs which can be connected into the existing PBX. An ATA (analog telephone adapter) will also terminate the SIP Trunk, through it will output traditional analog phone lines, for those PBXs that expect single phone lines on each of their ports.
